About This Course

In this course, you’ll learn about the human nervous system and its role in communication, specifically in speech, language, hearing and cognition. You’ll also study the nervous system’s control of swallowing and chewing, as well as the typical aspects of the central and peripheral nervous system’s anatomy, physiology and function.

What You’ll Learn

  • The anatomy, physiology and function of fundamental neural mechanisms involved in communication, including speech, language, hearing, cognition and swallowing

  • The functions of speech, language, hearing, cognition and swallowing, and the neurophysiology that controls them

  • Current field-related research and professional issues related to the nervous system’s role in communication
